St. Anna Tunnel

St. Anna Tunnel, also known as the Voetgangerstunnel, is a fascinating pedestrian tunnel that runs beneath the River Scheldt in Antwerp. Completed in 1933, this tunnel stretches 572 meters (1,877 feet) and connects the city center with the left bank. Its vintage charm is accentuated by the original wooden escalators and Art Deco design, offering a nostalgic journey back in time. The tunnel provides a unique and convenient way for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the river, all while enjoying a rare and atmospheric piece of Antwerp’s history.
